The 2017 reNew and reDo fashion show benefiting the Women’s Home took place at the Ballroom at Bayou Place on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 6 p.m. The chairs for the annual event were Mimi Irvin, a vintage influencer in corporate America and Ms. Houston Vintage 2016; Gregg Harrison, a personal injury lawyer, philanthropist, and photo booth company owner; and Kat Kearns, an accomplished businesswoman, former advertising executive, and international model. Accessories designer Elaine Turner was the evening’s vivacious emcee.

Each year, supporters and guests look forward to this evening of fun, fashion, and philanthropy. This year, it was no different. The gorgeous venue boasted a trendy runway show and pop-up boutique featuring high-end designer clothing and accessories from the Cottage Shop, the Women’s Home resale boutique social enterprise, and the closets of a select few of Houston’s best-dressed women.

Not only did attendees have the pleasure of experiencing the latest fashions being modeled by local personalities, they were also able to sponsor the models. Before the event, guests made donations by submitting a dollar amount for each of their favorites. 

​

This year’s outstanding models included Joyce Echols, designer and fashion icon; Marie Bosarge, Founder, President, and Director of Music Doing Good, Inc.; D’Artagnan Bebel, Vice President and General Manager of three units for the Fox Television Stations Division of News Corporation; Jacy Cooper, co-owner of fashion-forward Houston boutique Sette; Jillian Day, fundraising generalist and Director of Development at the Houston Zoo; Sheila Enriquez, attorney CPA and shareholder with Briggs and Veselka Co.; Harry and Tracy Faulkner, fundraisers extraordinaire—Tracy has recently been appointed to the Mayor’s Task Force on Human Trafficking and Harry is petrophycisist for Hilcorp Energy; Zenobia Harris Bivens, attorney for the law firm of Berg and Androphy; Victoria Hellyer, human rights activist; Staci Henderson, co-owner of JoyBox Flowers and Philanthropic Fetes; Leisa Holland-Nelson, Partner, Vice President/CMO of ASTOUNDZ; Aike Jamaluddin, senior designer at Limb Design; Van Ngo, accountant and the Women’s Home crusader; Brad Rossacci, Director of Innovation for 900lbs of Creative; Ally Shell, co-owner of Neal Hamil Agency; Jeff Shell, Principal at Neal Hamil Agency; Todd Shell, works with over 250 nonprofit supportive housing organizations through CORT; Shannon Smith, oversees Clark Cooper Concepts’ Marketing, Public Relations, and Social Media efforts; Karan Sra, award-winning dermatologist with Houston Skin Associates and Adara Medical Spa; Kim Cotner David, Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer of Baylor College of Medicine; and the fabulous chairs: Mimi Irvin, Gregg Harrison, and Kat Kearns.

The model who raised the most donations, with a total of $6,500, was Dr. Karan Sra.

​

During the event, guests also shopped for fabulous finds from the runway to the racks in the mobile boutique. All proceeds benefited the Women’s Home.

About the Women’s Home
A charity like no other, the Women’s Home has been helping women build whole lives for going on 60 years. During this time, it has been successful in offering many women, a number of whom are homeless and lack job skills due to substance abuse and mental illness, a home and a model of care called Whole Life. As well as the annual fashion show, the Women’s Home hosts other occasions whose proceeds help those it assists in gaining a better life.
