Come Together Virtually for Ars Lyrica’s A Star Is Born Gala

Ars Lyrica will honor three generations of Houston’s finest opera supporters and stars and raise vital support for Opera Circle and its 2021 opera, Dido and Aeneas, with a virtual gala

On Saturday, April 25, 2020, a unique event will occur, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Houston opera lovers will unite through a digital gala to honour opera supporters and stars and support Ars Lyrica’s Opera Circle and its 2021 opera presentation, Dido and Aeneas. The opera will be staged by Catherine Turocy, artistic director of the New York Baroque Dance Company, and star Abigail Fischer as Dido, Mark Diamond as Aeneas, and Lauren Snouffer as Belinda.

Robin Angly and Miles Smith will chair the A Star Is Born gala, which will honor legendary opera singer and teacher Lois Alba. Star soprano Michelle Bradley, who studied with Alba, will perform.

Attendees at the virtual gala will receive exclusive access to remarks from chairs, Robin Angly and Miles Smith; honoree, Lois Alba; star performer, Michelle Bradley; Ars Lyrica Founder and Artistic Director, Matthew Dirst; and Ars Lyrica Executive Director, Kinga Ferguson. They will also enjoy a never-before-seen performance by Michelle Bradley and receive discount codes to select restaurants where they can eat and drink in style on gala night. To enhance the experience even further, participants will have access to a pre-gala Choose-Your-Own-Adventure game.

During the 2020/2021 season, Ars Lyrica plans to celebrate its devoted supporters with an in-person appreciation event.
