Philanthropy was in high gear Thursday night at the 7th Annual "Keels and Wheels Uncorked event benefitting The Boys & Girls Harbor at The Wynden. Texas legend and this year's guest of honor, Mickey Gilley, alongside the Master of Ceremonies, Sam Malone, joined over 250 guests to help raise funds for children and families in crisis while enjoying a variety of classic car inspired gourmet hors d'oeurves and exceptional wine. Attendees also had the chance to try Gilley's Platinum Reserve red and white wines during the formal debut at the event.

Six of Houston's top restaurants tested their head chefs' creativity by requesting custom dishes and wine pairings to complement a classic vehicle or boat to be featured in the upcoming Keels & Wheels Concours d'Elegance on April 23rd and 24th at the Lakewood Yacht Club in Seabrook, TX.

Carmelo Mauro of Carmelo's Ristorante Italiano's created a classic combination of rigatoni pasta with cream sauce under a spicy veal meatball to pair with a 2013 Cormons Rosänder Pinot Grigio. The pairing matched a one-of-a-kind 1948 Bentley owned by Steve Quance.

A 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS owned by Veso Kossev, motivated Amalfi Ristorante Italiano & Bar's Chef Giancarlo Ferrara to make a crudo de pesce with red snapper, salmon marinated with lemon and tomato and orange infused mousse. The dish was paired with a choice of either a 2011 Adriano Adami Giardino Prosecco di Valdobbiadene or Antonutti Friulano.

Mark Cox of Mark's American Cuisine was given a 2012 Lucra Sports Car from the movie "Fast & Furious 6" to use as inspiration for his dishes. Uncorked guests had the pleasure of trying an elegant saffron and spinach ricotta gnocchi with petite Doubloon Shittake mushrooms, opal basil and smoked shrimp and tomatoes. This dish was balanced with a Becker Vineyards Viognier.

A 1957 Cadillac Eldorado, owned by John Hodges, inspired Masraff's head chef, Johanthon Salgado, to pair a 2011 Pennywise Pinot Noir with garlic seared calamari and oyster mushrooms in a soy reduction sauce.

Executive Chef Eric Aldis at Corner Table based his wagyu beef short rib on a bed of purple potato hash and slaw with a Joseph Carr Cabernet Sauvignon pairing off of a 1971 Hemi 'Cudaowned by Darryl Wischnewski.

Scott French of Mister French's Gourmet Bakery created oatmeal fudge bars with decorative anchors nicknamed "Bayou City Bars". The sweet creations were matched with a 1950 Chris Craft named Lil' Nel and owned by Buck Beasely.

All six restaurants, car and boat owners were recognized for their tremendous efforts and generous contributions to the event. While guests mingled and sampled the pairings, MCM Worldwide took the stage to tell the audience 10 percent of all purchases at its Galleria store during the month of April will go back to the charity. Gilley followed up with a comedic skit and an announcement about a new Gilley's venue to be possibly opened in La Porte. Malone took the opportunity to share the stage and interview the Texas legend where Gilley shared his favorite food is sushi and his first purchase after his record deal, a Lincoln Continental, can still be found in Branson, Mo.

Generosity was then put into overdrive as Uncorked guests contributed to the evenings success by bidding on a variety of live and silent auction items including high end handbags, romantic getaways, VIP experiences, vacation packages, wine baskets and much more.
