Kids’ Meals Twelfth Annual Harvest Luncheon

Is Going Virtual

On Friday, November 13, 2020, at 11:45 a.m., Houstonians can attend the year’s most heartwarming event, and support Kids’ Meals, by joining the Twelfth Annual Harvest Luncheon from the comfort of their own home. Luncheon Chair, Melissa DeAyala will join Kids’ Meals in hosting this one-of-a-kind virtual experience, which will support the nonprofit’s mission to help end childhood hunger and the cycle of poverty. A Kids’ Meals “spokes kid” will emcee the inspiring program.

As with past Harvest Luncheons, Mimosas & Market, a curated group of exceptional vendors offering a collection of distinctive items, will give participants the opportunity to get a jump on their Christmas shopping. Attendees will be given a VIP experience, enjoy a delicious lunch delivered to their door, take part in the online raffle, and participate in a spectacular silent auction chaired by Vanessa and Jeremy Goebel.

Highlights of the afternoon will include a virtual ride-along in a Kids’ Meals’ van as it delivers meals to the homes of hungry children; the animated features, “Who Is Kids’ Meals?” and “Cycle of Poverty”; and a virtual tour of Kids’ Meals’ newly expanded 18,000-square-foot space. Here, attendees will meet children from the Kids’ Meals program, as well as thousands of the nonprofit’s volunteers, including staff drivers, who have kept things running during the pandemic. Because of their combined efforts, over 7,500 children a day received nourishment at the peak of the crisis. Throughout the event, notable speakers, including Laura Schroff, Jeanette Walls, Jimmy Wayne, Chef Jeff, and Sean Tuohy will address the viewing audience.

This year’s Century Club Honorees are: Cockrell Foundation, Halliburton, Leslie L. Alexander Foundation, Reliant an NRG Company, and Astros Foundation.

To be part of this celebratory event, and support this important organization, guests can purchase individual tickets, host a table, or host their own viewing party.

About Kids’ Meals

Kids’ Meals is a caring nonprofit whose mission is “to end childhood hunger by delivering free healthy meals to the doorsteps of Houston’s hungriest preschool-aged children, and, through collaboration, provide their families with resources to help end the cycle of poverty.” Every day of the year, Kids’ Meals’ volunteers prepare thousands of healthy lunches and deliver them to children enrolled in their program. Kids’ Meals currently serves six Houston-area routes where the need is critical.

In addition to the five nutritious weekly meals the organization provides, it also supplies its children with a variety of helpful resources. These include: free books every quarter, turkeys at Thanksgiving, toys, and fun at a holiday Christmas party, and information on critical community resources families need to help them with other issues they face due to extreme poverty.
