The Celebration

Saturday, October 6, 2018 marked the final breathtaking runway shows of Fashion X Houston, a three-day event that brings fall fashion to the forefront. Emerging and established Houston-based designers were featured during the three days. Saturday’s lineup boasted Nava by Ayesha Qasim, Travis Cal Styles, Rana Noman, Erum Khan, Modish & Swank, Mysterious by NPN,  Abi Ferrin, and Bentley & Lace. The featured capsule designers were Amberleaf, Amyra, Valerie Garmino, and H&H Designs.

The Story

Instore events ran from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. with some stores, like Akris and Amorino, offering special promotions and treats. After registering, enjoying the VIP lounge, and sipping drinks with friends, guests enjoyed the runway shows, which began at 8 p.m. Attendees were enthralled by the couture representing Houston’s haute fashion scene that graced the catwalks. Proceeds from each evening’s fashion shows were donated to the designated style setter’s chosen charity. The  VIP style setters were Lori Raijman and Vivian Wise on Thursday night, whose charities of choice were The Arts of Healing and Texas Legacy Foundation respectively; Donae Chramosta on Friday night, whose charity of choice was Crime Stoppers of Houston; and Alicia Smith on Saturday night, whose charity of choice was SBP.

The Moments

Style setter, Alicia Smith, was the evening’s honoree. Alicia is well-known to Houstonians as a philanthropist who gives a great deal of her time to local charities and to the community as a whole. For her dedication to the City of Houston, Alicia has received many honors, including being named: a Houston Sweetheart, a 2014 Social Book Houston Treasure, a 2015 Community Champion by Texas Children’s Cancer Center, a 2017 Woman of Substance, one of Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of 2017, and the top WBE CEO of 2017. She was also included in the 2018 Houston Chronicle’s Best Dressed list. Most recently, Alicia was named a CKW LUXE Top 20 Inspiring Woman Impact Maker for 2019. The Saturday runways proceeds were donated to SBP, Alicia’s charity of choice.
