The Celebration

The Houston Gulf Coast Chapter of JDRF, the leading global organization focused on type 1 diabetes (T1D) research, hosted the kickoff event for the 20th Anniversary Platinum Promise Ball at 51fifteen Cuisine & Cocktails in Saks Fifth Avenue. The chic venue within the high-fashion locale was the perfect setting for the sophisticated soirée. The 2019 Promise Ball chairs, Mary and Dr. Mark D’Andrea, and the 2019 Promise Ball honoree, Daniel Yates, were in attendance. The event was generously underwritten by Advanced Diagnostic Hospital and Clinics.

The 20th Anniversary Platinum Promise Ball will be held on April 27, 2019 at the Hilton Americas. It will bring together community leaders to enjoy a seated dinner, dancing, and silent and live auctions. There will also be an opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of people living with T1D through a 100 percent tax-deductible donation during the “Fund A Cure” portion of the evening. The 2019 Promise Ball presenting sponsor is Hagans, Montgomery & Rustay, P.C.

The Story

Party-goers enjoyed delectable wine and tasty bites from the restaurant’s chef-driven menu. On-theme platinum balloons provided by Big Ass Balloons added to the festive nature of the occasion. Guests  happily mingled, munched, and posed for pictures. As a generous donation to the Promise Ball 2019 auction, attendees brought bottles of wine.

The Moments

Board president, Elizabeth Lay Vittor; executive director, Rick Byrd; and Promise Ball chair, Mary D’Andrea spoke about JDRF’s goals, its accomplishment, and its future plans. They also toasted this year’s honoree, Daniel Yates. The successful kick-off is sure to reflect well on the upcoming event. Last year’s annual gala raised over $1.83 million for T1D research and initiatives, and the 20th Anniversary Platinum Promise Ball is set to exceed all expectations.
