2017 CKW LUXE STAR AWARDS

Pop Star Award

Ajay Shah: A Young Author with Aspirations to Save the World

CKW Luxe is proud to announce that Ajay Shah is our honoree for the Pop Star Award. This award recognizes the young people who shine in their talent. Whether they are amazing at art, music, or writing, we want to recognize them.

“I have about 8 more book ideas to help save people and animals.” – Ajay Shah

Five-year-old author, Ajay Shah, is a young man with a curious mind. He was born and raised in Houston and currently attends Awty International School, the largest private school in the city of Houston and the second largest international school in the United States. Here, Ajay attends the Kindergarten Spanish Immersion Program.

Ajay has a number of favorite academic subjects, including math, reading, science, and languages. He’s also curious about the political system and how voting works. Worldly topics that engage him are different cultures and landmarks, natural disasters and how they occur, and the various circumstances in which various people around the world live.

It was his interest in other cultures that led Ajay to write his first book when he was only four years old. He wanted to learn about how the people of El Salvador lived, because his nanny is from there. This led to an interest in other countries, and he began doing research with the help of his parents and his writing tutor, Mark Price. Ajay also wanted to write and publish a book about philanthropy that would help others. For six months, he dedicated himself to the project.

The result was Ajay and the Bumblebee Man Save the World. Talented young Ajay put himself in the book as a young boy who travels to various countries with his family and his dear friend the Bumblebee Man. Their special vehicle makes their journey possible. In this clever tale by the enthusiastic writer, the characters are able to save Japanese citizens from a giant tsunami, feed the people of India, rebuild earthquake-damaged homes for the people of El Salvador, rescue the Rain Forest and its inhabitants, and even save the people of Antarctica from ice vampires. This is not the summation of their accomplishments, however. Young readers are amazed and delighted by the characters’ other feats of bravery and humanitarianism as well.

Ajay’s inventive writing showcases his imagination and storytelling abilities and highlights his belief in the importance of helping others. These wonders of human kindness and courage are not just pipe dreams for young Ajay. His commitment to helping those in need doesn’t end with his imagination. Proceeds from the book go to Texas Children’s Heart Foundation and Texas Children’s Hospital. It is his desire one day to become a cardiologist like his father and help children with heart disease.

Amazon.com says this of the young writer and his first foray into the publishing world: “This is truly an amazing accomplishment for so young a writer, and certainly only the beginning of an exciting writing career.”

Ajay is also featured as the youngest writer, again when he was four years old, in the book The Other Moon: Students Writing to Save Animals. It is a literary tour de force of fiction and poetry penned by over 77 creative writing students, ages 4 to 17. All proceeds benefit the rescue and rehabilitation of abused and abandoned animals in Houston. The young writers in the compilation are dedicated to using their writing to save animals and help them find their forever homes.

When he isn’t attending school, independently researching other cultures, learning and reading about animals, or practicing his writing, busy Ajay enjoys skiing, golfing, and tennis. He also finds time for a little television. Ajay’s favorite show at the moment is Wild Kratts, a PBS offering that educates children about biology, zoology, and ecology. It also teaches them small ways to make big impacts. Ajay is also an aspiring model and actor with TL Modeling Agency.

Continuing the spirit of giving back in his everyday life, Ajay also enjoys volunteering for the Houston Food Bank, which is given a shout out in Ajay and the Bumblebee Man Save the World. As one of their youngest volunteers, Ajay helps the worthy organization fill the pantries of hungry children, seniors, and others who may not have enough to eat. So far, Ajay has volunteered over six hours to the food bank.

CKW Luxe would like to congratulate Ajay Shah on being the Pop Star Award honoree. As the embodiment of the award, Ajay has jumped right into writing with all the enthusiasm of a seasoned author, from doing the research, to mastering the skill of writing, to finding the perfect subject with which to showcase his skills. Not only has Ajay written his own book and contributed to another, he has plans to write more. His writing is designed to entertain, educate, and inspire other children to acts of kindness and philanthropy. Practicing what he believes, Ajay has donated the profits from his book to charity and is volunteering his time in the community. And he’s only five years old. Just think what he’ll accomplish by the time he’s six!
