2 nd Annual Gala Benefiting A Place for Peanut, Inc.

A Place for Peanut, Inc. will host its 2 nd Annual Gala on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Kirby Ice House located at 3333 Eastside St. Houston, 77098.

A Place for Peanut is a non-profit horse sanctuary and equine therapy foundation. The organization is dedicated to rescuing horses, donkeys and miniature horses from being slaughtered; while bringing joy to children and veterans in hospitals through its special programs and therapy.

Honorary Chair  Michelle Maresh  along with Gala Co-Chairs Christine  and Steve Johnson will welcome guests to a fun-filled evening with bites and beverages along with live entertainment provided by Houston’s legendary  Scott Gertner Jazz Band . Houston abstract artist  Ann Marie Vancas  will paint “live” a piece of artwork that will be auctioned during the evening for the organization.  Casey Curry will serve as the Master of Ceremonies. Guests will have the chance to meet two miniature rescue horses from the sanctuary and place their bets in a live and silent auction.

A Place for Peanut will honor  Michelle Mantor for her work as an animal activist. Mantor is the Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of Houston PetTalk Magazine, where she has been publishing and participating in Houston’s vibrant pet community for more 15 years. PetTalk strives to educate the public about responsible pet care and helps promote the valuable work of many rescue groups and shelters throughout Houston. She was a founding board member of the BARC Foundation and currently sits on its advisory board. Through Mantor’s work with Houston Humane Society, she discovered an abused and neglected stallion that she adopted and named Freedom.

Megan Cardet, Founder and President of A Place for Peanut said: “When I stumbled across Peanut, a miniature orphan foal in a Texas pen, I immediately became driven to save horses and other equines that are at risk of being killed. We are extremely grateful for everyone who has helped us give horses a second chance at life, so that they can give back to others in need.”

A Place for Peanut invites everyone to support and contribute to its mission of rescuing horses and providing equine therapy by purchasing tickets to its gala or donating online to the organization. Proceeds from the event and auction will help A Place for Peanut continue saving and rehabilitating horses – including the food and medical attention.
