The Art Colony Association, Inc. (ACA) has announced the Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park 2019 featured artist is Julio C. Garcia, a 2D Mixed Media artist from Jacksonville, FL. Garcia, along with 300 artists from around the country representing 19 different disciplines, will showcase their art at Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park, benefiting Houston nonprofits, on Friday-Sunday March 29-31, 2019.
Garcia’s paintings come from deep within and go far back to when he was a young boy living in Mexico. Growing up in touch with nature and a quest to express it, Garcia painted every time he had a chance. His artwork is an invitation to travel and a journey through his experiences. At the age of 24, he moved to the U.S. after his first daughter was born. Garcia felt that painting was truly what he was born to do. Imagery, emotions and new ideas kept rising leading Garcia to paint.
The featured artwork for the 2019 Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park is titled “At Dusk” by Garcia. Using the human figure as a landscape, Garcia combined his passion for nature and self-expression.
As one of the nation’s premier outdoor fine art events, Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park will provide guests with the opportunity to personally meet artists, view original works, and purchase world-class art. The three-day festival will feature live music, local food vendors and food trucks, beverages, entertainment, a Children’s Creative Zone and much more. An exhibition of student artwork composed of the top 30 finalists from the Middle School Art Competition will also be featured at Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park.
During the past 48 years, attracting crowds of 35,000 annually, the Bayou City Art Festival has raised more than $3.6 million in support of local nonprofit organizations and provided a venue for over 20,000 artists to showcase their work to thousands of art lovers from all over the world. For every festival, a new jury selects participating artists, some new and some returning. This creates a fresh and different festival year after year.
