Breakthrough T1D to Host “Style for a Cure” Shopping Event at River Oaks District
Breakthrough T1D—formerly known as JDRF—invites style enthusiasts and philanthropic shoppers to make a difference through fashion at Style for a Cure, an all-day shopping experience at River Oaks District on February 10, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. This stylish fundraiser will generate vital support for Breakthrough T1D while serving as the fashionable kickoff to the highly anticipated “Night in Black & White” Promise Ball 2026.
Hosted by renowned personal stylist Styled by Dale (Dale Volpe) alongside 2026 Promise Ball Chairs Alexandra and Richard Bruskoff, the event will turn River Oaks District into a vibrant destination for retail therapy with purpose. Guests can enjoy exclusive in-store experiences, light bites, champagne and cocktails, raffles, giveaways, and nonstop style inspiration—while 20 percent of all purchases throughout the day benefit Greater Houston Breakthrough T1D.
More than 20 premier boutiques will participate, offering everything from high-fashion statements to beauty essentials and luxury gifts. Participating retailers include A.L.C., alice + olivia, Altuzarra, Assouline, Baccarat, Biologique Recherche, Carolina Herrera, Christy Lynn, FRAME, LoveShackFancy, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Moreau, Veronica Beard, Vince, Zadig & Voltaire, Zimmermann, and more. Bari Ristorante will also treat diners to a complimentary glass of champagne with their meal.
Guests are encouraged to begin the day by checking in at the event’s Haute Headquarters, located between Veronica Beard and Jenni Kayne. There, attendees may enter prize drawings, enjoy complimentary B12 shots from Clinic Concierge (noon–3 p.m.), sip iced lattes and matcha with almond croissants and conchas from Ojo de Agua, and indulge in specialty cocktails and mocktails from Loewe. Guests will also receive a schedule highlighting the day’s activations, including makeup touch-ups at the Cheek Makeup Bar by Faceforward Cosmetics at LoveShackFancy, complimentary embroidery with purchases at A.L.C., and Open Play Mahjong at Assouline hosted by the Traveling Mahjong Series, among other surprises.
Throughout the day, shoppers can explore a curated edit of black-tie fashion curated to inspire Promise Ball looks, enjoy cocktails and treats, play mahjong, take part in mother-daughter shopping moments, and discover personalized customizations. Blending fashion, fun, and philanthropy, Style for a Cure promises a standout shopping event where style and giving go hand in hand.
Breakthrough T1D will also celebrate the 27th anniversary of one of Houston’s most impactful fundraising events, the Promise Ball, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Hilton Americas–Houston.
The evening will honor The Judy & Bob Morgan family and The Amy & Tim Haskell family, and recognize Linda Brown as the recipient of the Meredith and Fielding Cocke Visionary Award. Elizabeth & James Elder will be featured as the event’s Fund A Cure family.
Drew Dougherty, former host of Houston Texans TV, will return as emcee, leading guests through a compelling program highlighting cutting-edge progress in type 1 diabetes research and care. The evening will include a curated silent auction chaired by Lindsey Brochstein, a dynamic live auction led by Shawn Hamilton of Stokes Auction House, and additional fundraising moments such as a jewelry sweepstakes and the powerful Fund A Cure appeal.
The celebration will also introduce a VIP Mahjong for a Cure gaming experience before and after the main event and conclude with entertainment, dancing, and a spirited Casino Games After Party, sponsored and hosted by Liskow.
Tickets for the Promise Ball begin at $750 per person, with table sponsorship opportunities available ranging from $7,500 to $100,000.

About Breakthrough T1D, Southern Texas Chapter
As the leading global type 1 diabetes research and advocacy organization, Breakthrough T1D helps make everyday life with type 1 diabetes better while driving toward cures. We do this by investing in the most promising research, advocating for progress by working with government to address issues that impact the T1D community, and helping educate and empower individuals facing this condition.
About Type 1 Diabetes (T1D)
T1D is an autoimmune condition that causes the pancreas to make very little insulin or none at all. This leads to dependence on insulin therapy and the risk of short and long-term complications, which can include highs and lows in blood sugar; damage to the kidneys, eyes, nerves, and heart; and even death. Globally, it impacts nearly 9 million people. Many believe T1D is only diagnosed in childhood and adolescence, but diagnosis in adulthood is common and accounts for nearly 50% of all T1D diagnoses. The onset of T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. While its causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers are involved. There is currently no cure for T1D.
