Dr. Behyar Zoghi MD, PhD, FACP is triple board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology and is an experienced cancer physician and bone marrow transplant specialist. He received his MD/PhD from the Texas A&M College of Medicine, his residency from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and his Fellowship from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr. Zoghi practices hematology/bone marrow transplant at the Texas Transplant Institute at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital, a member of the Sarah Cannon Blood Cancer Network. He is Assistant Professor Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and chairman of Graduate Medical Education for the Methodist Healthcare System. Dr. Zoghi’s interests are focused on the most recent developments in cancer therapy, including immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and CAR-T cell therapy. The latter is a type of therapy in which T cells (a kind of immune cell) are altered in a laboratory to make them bind to cancer cells and kill them.
Dr. Zoghi is a member of many professional organizations, including the American Physician Scientists Association, the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy, The American Society of Hematology, the European Hematological Association, and the American College of Physicians.
As well as being passionate about medicine, Dr. Zoghi is interested in law and politics. He is the author of numerous articles that focus on human rights, freedom, and what we stand for as Americans. Dr. Zoghi believes that Americans aspire not just to making a living, but also to working to make a difference in the lives of people around the world, and he is eager to do his part.
Dr. Zoghi has been the recipient of numerous awards for the work he has done, and continues to do, in his field. He received the Texas Society of Clinical Oncology Award for his novel patented therapy for treating breast cancer. His holistic approach to cancer therapy earned him a recent cover article in MDNews magazine. He has been recognized nationally as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and was selected as one of the Texas Super Doctors Rising Stars for 2018 and 2019 by Texas Monthly. Dr. Zoghi is also the recipient of the Arrival Award: Beacon of Light for 2019 from the University of Houston Law Center and the prestigious Early Career Physician Leader of the Year Award for 2019 from the Texas Chapter of the American College of Physicians.
In service to the community at large and at home, Dr. Zoghi provides free medical care and treatment to patients in need in the villages of Taleghan County in Iran and is a member of the advisory board for the nonprofit Hearts Need Art, a volunteer-based organization which incorporates bedside music, group art classes, corridor concerts, and movement and meditation classes for cancer patients. He also participates in the World Affairs Council of San Antonio, which promotes public understanding of world affairs and U.S. foreign policy and enhances the ability of its citizens and future leaders to participate in a global community.
A devoted husband and family man, Dr. Zoghi believes his success is mainly due to the moral support he receives from his wife, Bahar Khoshnoudi JD. He encourages their daughter, Kathryn, to follow in the footsteps of her mom and attend Stanford University and Harvard Law School.
Dr. Behyar Zoghi is a humanitarian, as well as an engaged medical doctor, who believes in the betterment of people’s lives in the United States and around the world.
