The Celebration

The elegant Post Oak Hotel shone brightly for Houston PetSet’s 15th Annual Fierce & Fabulous Soirée. The glittering event, cochaired by Tena Lundquist Faust, Tama Lundquist, and Kisha Itkin, raised funds to support Greater Houston area animal welfare groups. Deborah Duncan of KHOU 11’s Great Day Houston emceed and Kara and Lance McCullers were honored for their support of the organization.

The Story

Over 400 guests gathered for the benefit of Houston’s neglected animals. On display at the Fabergé VIP preparty, which started the evening off, was a bespoke, 2-carat emerald complete with setting. The gem was donated to the evening’s silent auction by the iconic jeweler. Guests admired other auction items on display, including a signed Houston Astros José Altuve jersey, a signed photo of George H. W. Bush with Babe Ruth, and a hand-painted statue of a dog by artist Cynthia Sanders.  Champagne, live saxophone, and beats by DJ Senega put attendees in a party mood. Later in the evening, partiers enjoyed the nightclub set up at the back of the ballroom by Club PetSet Young Professionals.

The Moments

Deborah Duncan welcomed guests, thanking them for their support of PetSet, and introduced guest speakers, Reverend Gregory Han of Interfaith Ministries; Laura Halloran of the Texas Humane Legislation Network; and Lance McCullers Jr., World Champion Houston Astros pitcher. The documentary, Corridor of Cruelty, illustrated for attendees just how dire the situation is for many animals. Afterward, the cochairs appealed to everyone for their support.

The Soirée raised over $440,000 to fund the many animal welfare efforts throughout the city.
