Houston Symphony League

For more than 80 years, the Houston Symphony League has been a source of significant support for the Houston Symphony and for the cultural and educational enrichment of our city. Founded in 1937 as the Houston Symphony Society Auxiliary Committee with Miss Ima Hogg as the first President, the organization was formed with the purpose of promoting the sale of season tickets. Early activities included soliciting donations for the Annual Fund, organizing a Junior Patrons group, ushering at student concerts and initiating a major fundraising project.

The Houston Symphony League has evolved into an organization of more than 350 men and women who provide important support to the Symphony in areas such as educational programs, fundraising, community relations and special events. League members have raised funds to purchase a Steinway piano for the orchestra, encouraged young and emerging musicians through music competitions, contributed to the purchasing and refurbishing of instruments for the Instrument Petting Zoo and volunteered thousands of hours as docents for family concert activities and ushers at student concerts.
