CEO and Publisher of CKW LUXE Magazine

Sometimes, it’s good to reflect on how we got to where we are. I’m always aware of the people around me who have supported my endeavors and CKW LUXE Magazine. Without their encouragement and hard work, my dream of publishing a magazine may not have been realized. I am grateful to them every day.

So I thought, in this issue, that I would recognize a group of the key players behind the scenes at the magazine: the CKW LUXE Magazine editors. Not only are they my colleagues, who I count on for their contributions and expertise, they are also my trusted friends.

I’m fortunate to be surrounded by people in various fields of knowledge who are not only willing to, but enthusiastic about, sharing their knowledge with you, the reader. I think their generosity and passion shines through the pages of the magazine. To Gule Andrabi, our Education Editor; Flora and Francis Choy, our Financial Editors; Dr. Diana Collins, our Health Editor; Katya Dow, our Legal Editor;  Dr. William Reading and Teresa Cox Reading, RN, our Health Editors; and Margaret MacMillan, our General Editor, thank you for making CKW LUXE a magazine we can all be proud of.

I would also like to recognize Tommy Kuranoff, who we have named our Community Partner Honoree. As the general manager of Momentum BMW MINI, Tommy has been a dedicated supporter of CKW LUXE since its inception over 11 years ago. Whether attending our galas as a sponsor or as an attendee, Tommy’s presence is always appreciated and uplifting.

In this message, I would also like to quickly mention what a going concern Girl Chess Power and Beyond,  the chess nonprofit we introduced in our last issue, has become. It’s been a busy year for its young founder, Zoe Wong, and its members. You can read all about it in this issue.

As well, I would like to thank all the young people who submitted work in the form of poems and short stories this year. Your contributions are the most we have ever had and they add sunshine to our pages.

In this new year, let us all reflect on how we got to where we are and be grateful to everyone who supported us along the way.
