Nancy Strohmer approaches every endeavor with unwavering passion and boundless compassion, and her life revolves around family, cherished friendships, her faith and a profound commitment to giving back.


From her earliest days as a Candy Striper in the 1960s to her most recent role as Chair of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame Gala, Nancy has exemplified a deep-seated dedication to helping others and leaving a positive mark on their lives. 


Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Nancy pursued her education, earning Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Education (Business) from James Madison University in Virginia. In 1981, she planted her roots in Houston, where she built a successful entrepreneurial career as the owner of a manufacturing company, which she eventually sold in 2001. Houston has been home to Nancy and her beloved husband, Hans, for the past 26 years, and together they share four wonderful children and ten precious grandchildren. Nancy’s top priority has always been her family, whether it’s attending sporting events or hosting the beloved Santa Sleepover tradition. This yearly family gathering has taken them to various locations, fostering cherished memories worldwide.


For over four decades, Nancy has been a stalwart supporter of numerous Houston organizations, serving in various positions such as board member, event chair, or supportive member.  Some of those organizations include the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music Society, the Houston Symphony League, The Living Bank, American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, Susan G. Komen, Cancer Fighters, Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum Business Board Houston, CEO Roundtable - Greater Houston Partnership, March of Dimes, Baylor Partnership, World Affairs Council, Salvation Army, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Kappa Delta Sorority, Bach Society, Friends of Hermann Park, Melancthon Institute, National Charity League, TIRR, and University of St. Thomas Performing Arts Society.


Nancy’s leadership roles have included serving as president of organizations such as the Houston Symphony League (North and Central Leagues), Champion Forest (CF) Civic Club, CF Women’s Club, CF Homeowner’s Association, the ACBL District and Local organizations, and the ACBL Charity Foundation. 


Throughout her journey, Nancy has received numerous accolades for her outstanding volunteerism, including the Houston Treasures award, Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame and Advocate of the Year recognition, University of Houston’s Moores School of Music Society Spirit of Volunteerism honor, Crohn’s and Colitis Woman of Distinction recipient, University of Houston’s Leading Ladies of Houston honoree, and the Houston Symphony League Fund Raising Event (North Area) award. Her remarkable contributions have even landed her a spot in the publication Notable Women of Texas.


Nancy’s interests span hiking (including conquering Kilimanjaro), globetrotting (covering all seven continents), competitive bridge, quality time with her beloved grandchildren, and dedicated service to the causes closest to her heart.  


It’s with great pride and admiration that Nancy Strohmer is recognized as one of the Top 20 Inspiring Woman Impact Makers for 2024. Her lifelong commitment to enriching the lives of others stands as a shining example of the positive influence one person can have on the world.


It is for all the reasons mentioned above, and many more, that Nancy Strohmer has been named a Top 20 Inspiring Woman Impact Maker for 2024.
