The Houston SPCA has announced that its cochairs for this year’s much anticipated Howl-O-Ween Ball will be Zane Carruth and Cheryl Byington, two of Houston’s most celebrated philanthropists. Committed to many important causes, both Carruth and Byington care deeply about helping animals in need.

On Friday, October 28, 2022, the 2022 Howl-O-Ween Ball, which is also one of the city’s top fundraising events, will be held on the SPCA campus.

Carruth, an award-winning children’s author, experienced marketer, and vice president of the Carruth Foundation, is a devoted and passionate member of the board of directors of the Houston SPCA. She is also a member of the capital campaign committee and raised over $3 million for the organization’s beautiful new campus. As well, Carruth helped raise a record-breaking $1 million for the Houston SPCA when cochairing its 2021 Howl-O-Ween Ball. A sample of the honors and awards she has received for her devotion to the community include, being named one of ABC 13’s Women of Distinction, receiving a Women Who Mean Business award from the Houston Business Journal, and being named a 2020 Top 20 Inspiring Woman Impact Maker by CKW Luxe Magazine.

Byington, a retired vice president of BP, has dedicated her time and expertise to over 60 venerable Houston organizations. Each has benefited from her commitment to their causes and her leadership on many of their boards. For a number of years, as the representative for BP, Byington delivered the keynote address to the incoming freshman class of the McCombs School of Business. She also participated in the University of Texas Women’s Council’s forums and panels. Among the many honors and awards she has received for her commitment to the city are: being named one of ABC 13’s Women of Distinction, being named one of Houston’s 25 Most Beautiful by H-Texas Magazine, being inducted into the Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame, and being named a 2020 Top 20 Inspiring Woman Impact Maker by CKW Luxe Magazine.
