Nasruddin Rupani is a global philanthropist and highly successful entrepreneur with a passion for community service and humanitarian values.
Nasruddin is the president of World’s Gold & Diamonds, Inc. (WGD), one of the largest wholesalers and importers of fine diamond jewelry in the entire southwest region. After earning his degree in civil engineering from New York University, he decided on entrepreneurship for his career path, creating an extensive network of convenience stores in Austin, Texas before moving on to Houston. When the glitter of diamonds caught his eye, he created WGD. An avid marketer and firm believer in the potential of advertising and promotion, Nasruddin is an active partner and exhibitor at numerous jewelry expositions all over the United States. Located in Houston and Atlanta, WGD has created a large following and generates great admiration among its peers.
Nasruddin is also the president of U.S. Insurance Funding, Inc.(USIF), a leasing and finance company. USIF specializes in activities such as the financing of insurance premiums where it pays the total annual premium to the insurance company on behalf of the clients and provides them with convenient and affordable monthly installments. USIF also provides financing for inventories, accounts receivables, working capital, store improvement, business expansion, and business start-ups. As well, he is the president of World Wide Diamond Wholesale, Inc. and Star Diamond Jewelry Manufacturing. His positions on professional boards include: advisory board member, One World Bank; board member, Tara Energy; board member, Empowered Training Centre, L.L.C.; board of directors member, CACH Capital Management, LLC.
Nasruddin’s philanthropic leadership spans the globe. He is the founder and chairman of Ibn Sina Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, which provides high quality medical care at affordable prices to underserved and underprivileged populations in Houston. He is also clinics board chair and founder of the Rupani Foundation, which works in the United States, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Through Rupani Development Initiatives, Nasruddin steers Rupani Foundation programs through impact social investments, which benefit over a million direct beneficiaries in the Global South.
His affiliation with other important organizations is as follows: member, State of Texas Behavioral Health Advisory Committee Board; vice chair, Mental Health of America (MHA of Greater Houston); board member, Collaborative for Children; board member, The Alliance for Multicultural Services; board member, BakerRipley; board member, UNICEF; chairman, ECD Network of Pakistan Task Force; and member, Child Friendly Cities Initiative (CFCI) Houston.
Nasruddin’s expertise in managing and nurturing community service institutions drives his stature as a philanthropic governance leader in the Houston community as well as in Texas as a whole.His input as a member of the State Behavioral Health Advisory Committee has the ability to positively influence tens of millions of lives through high-level mental health policy.
In response to, and with gratitude for, his service to the community, Nasruddin has received the Best Community Service award from the South Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC), the Best Community Service award from the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce (PCC), the Best Community Service award from Asian American Family Services (AAFS), and the Heroes of Humanity Award for Uplifting Human Values from the Art of Living Foundation. In 2022, President Biden awarded Nasruddin with the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Civic mindedness runs in the family. Nasruddin’s wife, Farida, is an active partner in his community service and family businesses. The couple are the proud parents of their three daughters, Natasha, Annie, and Mona.
